In this guide

To explore the coast without changing cities, focus on Cap Spartel and the Achakar area. This loop leaves time for stops and walking; it does not need to extend to Asilah or Chefchaouen to make a worthwhile outing.

Choose the focus of your visit

Cap Spartel offers a panoramic stop, while Achakar continues the Atlantic coastal theme. Hercules Caves can be added if current access arrangements suit you. The Moroccan National Tourist Office's Tangier guide introduces local sights.

Do not base your departure on opening hours copied from an old article. Check access, any entrance charges and weather shortly before travelling.

Leave space between stops

Start with the place you most want to see. You can shorten later stops if traffic, crowds or walking time change the pace. Lunch need not be squeezed between several timed visits.

With children, alternate driving with short breaks. Keep day bags accessible so that every stop does not require unpacking the boot.

A coastal road is not beach access

Use the car to connect stops, not to enter every track, sandy area or pedestrian space. Follow authorised access and turn back if a track is unsuitable for the vehicle.

Wind, sea conditions and local restrictions may change your coastal stop. A scenic outing is not a swimming recommendation.

Admission and parking charges are not estimated without a current check. They are not automatically included in the rental rate.

Avoid turning the return into another excursion

Give another city its own programme. The Asilah guide focuses on its medina and seafront. For this local loop, choose your dates through our Tangier car rental service.

Frequently asked questions

Must every sight be included in one outing?

No. Two stops selected for the weather and your group's pace can work better than a complete checklist.

Are Hercules Caves always accessible?

Check current arrangements before travelling. This guide does not guarantee opening or admission.

Can I drive onto the beach?

Do not treat the beach as vehicle access. Stay on authorised routes suitable for the car.
